Movie Journal Entry #63:The Game (1997)

The Game
David Fincher's horribly underrated follow-up to the amazing "Seven", "The Game" is an amazingly made mystery/thriller with a Hitchcock like sensibility and a great David Fincher aesthetic.
After his brother sends him to a company that specializes in "Life-Changing Experiences", Nicolas Van Orton, a wealthy business man gets caught up in a game that becomes part of his life. Not knowing what is real and what is part of the game anymore Nicholas must uncover the mystery of the game and solve what he believes to be a conspiracy against him.
Michael Douglas is awesome as always and the other actors play their parts perfectly.
The plot is slightly convoluted and requires suspension of disbelief but the weird dream-like aesthetic makes the movie work. This is the kind of movie that keeps you hooked to your seat the whole time and is one of the best of its genre.
